Calculate your 13th month pay
Pro-rated by months worked. Brazil shows the standard 50/50 split between first and second installments.
Brazil's 13º salário (Christmas bonus) is a legal right under Lei 4.090/1962 and Lei 4.749/1965: one extra monthly salary per year, proportional to months worked — each month counts if you worked at least 15 days in it. Payment comes in two installments: the first (half, with no deductions) by 30 November, the second by 20 December, when INSS social security and income tax (IRRF) are withheld on the full amount. This calculator computes gross proportional value, the two installments and an estimate of the December deductions — locally, nothing uploaded.
This is an estimate for information only, not professional advice. Exact withholding depends on your INSS bracket, dependents and other income; overtime averages and variable pay (commissions) legally enter the base. For disputes, the authority is the CLT rules enforced by the Ministério do Trabalho. Last verified: July 2026.
FAQ
How is the proportional amount computed?
Salary ÷ 12 × months counted, where a month counts if you worked ≥15 days in it. Someone hired on 20 April earns 8/12 (May–December): April does not count with only ~10 days worked.
Why is the first installment bigger in hand?
The November installment (up to half) carries no INSS or IRRF deductions; everything is withheld in the December installment, calculated over the full 13º. Your December net therefore looks smaller than the November half.
Do commissions and overtime enter the 13º?
Yes — variable pay enters by legal average (commissions, habitual overtime, night premium). The calculator lets you use your average monthly earnings as the base for a realistic estimate.
What happens if I quit or am dismissed mid-year?
You receive the proportional 13º in your termination pay (except dismissal for just cause). The same 15-day month rule applies up to the termination date.
